Neurophysiology Tests

Nerve conduction studies, EMG (Electromyography), EEG (Electroencephalogram) and EP’s (Evoked Potentials) measure the electrical activity of the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles).

A neurophysiology technician uses computerised electronic equipment to undertake these tests under the supervision of the neurologist who analyses the results. The results will be sent to your referring doctor.

All tests have a Medicare rebate unless you have a worker’s compensation or third party insurance claim in which case you should inform the staff when making the appointment.

Targeted cognitive assessments are also available for early memory, dementia assessment, professional capacity and driving suitability.

Management of these conditions can also be undertaken with a referral from the family practitioner with a review with a neurologist, geriatrician or neurosurgeon.
